About Us
Change starts from the ground up. Moving earth, shaping a new direction, turning dreams into roads, dams, bridges, walls and walkways.
As a Winelands-based civil construction company, DKL has witnessed its fair share of change. With the area morphing from pure agricultural production into tourism, luxury accommodation and related industries, DKL Plant Hire & Civils has been at the forefront of it all, helping clients manage change for more than two decades.
Dealing daily with everything from vine replacement to stormwater diversion, civil construction and landscaping, we too have adapted. Starting as a pure plant hire firm, we have evolved into a fully-fledged, Level 7CE CIDB-rated civil construction company. And behind this successful adaptation, a board that invests in versatile machinery and the right skills. The stuff that matters when you need to get the job done, and the backbone of our offering to clients: reliability, diversity and exceptional skills.
This is evident in our choice of machinery: versatile, nimble JCB digger loaders, civil construction’s Swiss army knife, backed by the muscle of Komatsu and Hitachi excavators, and kept rolling by a fleet of tipper trucks, support fuel, water trucks, rollers and lowbed trailers.
DKL Plant Hire & Civils was founded in 2005 by Dirk Kampfer Lutz, joined in 2006 by current directors, Rossouw van der Merwe and Elizma Botha, and subsequently by fellow directors Philip Botha, Eduan Naudé and Uhan Rossouw, rebranding as DKL Plant Hire & Civils in 2023 to service clients in the Western, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape.
